Getting started with OFFTC

What Offworld Trading Company is, how to join the Discord, how to verify your RSI handle, and what you get as a member.
Offworld Trading Company — OFFTC — is a Star Citizen merchant house. We trade: we make markets, broker deals, and run a floor where you can sell what you pulled out of a rock at a posted price. We hold the claims and fly the escorts behind it.
This guide takes you from your first visit to member: joining the Discord, linking your RSI account, and what you can do here once you have.
What OFFTC is
A corporation, casual and role play, built around trading and resources. Four divisions work one chain, from the rock to the receipt:
Exchange makes the market. It buys, sells, brokers, and runs the trading floors.
Extraction holds the claims and pulls the ore out of them.
Logistics moves the goods, and delivers what was contracted.
Escort protects the chain.
Beginners are welcome, and so are affiliates: you do not have to make OFFTC your main org. Read the Code on our home page before you fly with us. Among other things, we do not fire first, and we do not take from the defenseless.
Join the Discord
Everything starts in our Discord server. Ops are called there, the bot lives there, and the rest of us are there. Tell us your RSI handle and when you usually play.
Link your RSI account
Linking shows the RSI account is yours, and it is how the bot knows you are in the org. It takes about a minute.
Run /verify in the server. Or press Get my code in the welcome DM, or Start verification under the welcome message. You get a code that starts with OFFTC-.
Paste the code anywhere in the Short bio of your RSI profile, and save it.
Press I added the code and type your RSI handle.
The bot reads your bio and finds the code. Then it checks that OFFTC is among your organizations on RSI, as your main org or as an affiliate. Once both are right you are verified, you get the member role, and you can take the code out of your bio.
If it does not work
A code runs out after a while. Ask for a new one the same way.
If your organizations are hidden on your RSI profile, the bot cannot see OFFTC. Show them, or ask an admin to confirm you.
An RSI handle can be linked to one Discord account only. To change the one you linked, ask an admin.
Stuck? Press Request admin assistance: it is in the welcome DM, under the welcome message, and on My profile on this site.
Sign in on the website
Press Sign in at the top of any page and continue with Discord. There is no separate account or password. You need to be 16 or over.
Anyone can read the blueprints, use the mining calculator and read these guides without signing in. Once you are signed in, you can also:
tick the blueprints you have, and share the list with a link;
save your mining ships, and start live sessions your crew can join;
see your own page, under My profile.
Once you are a verified member, there is more:
the Org pages: the leaderboard, and the goals the org is gathering towards;
your points, your rank and what the next rank takes, on My profile;
your blueprints shown to other members, under a blueprint’s Owned by;
guides written for members only.
Points, ranks and ops
Points add up on their own as you take part: time in voice, chatting, and ops. Your rank follows from them. In Discord, /profile shows your card and /leaderboard shows where you stand.
Ops are posted in Discord. Press a role’s button to take a seat, Withdraw if your plans change, and Remind me for a nudge before it starts.
